5 Day RYA Practical Training for 2023
Competent Crew and Day Skipper
We now start with the students arriving on the Sunday evening before the course on the Monday. We limiting the number of students to a maximum of 4 plus the instructor. Courses are now run on “a live aboard” basis and we expect that all students have been double vaccinated in consideration of others on board.
Competent Crew
Competent Crew. Experience being on board for 5 days sailing and really get to know the boat. Virtually all the course are hands on.
By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day duties on board. You should also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable holiday as a competent crew.

Day Skipper
DAY SKIPPER. Learn to skipper a short passage with the instructor on hand to give advice and encouragement and ensure your safety. Experience being in charge, taking credit when it all goes well and being responsible when it doesn’t. If Students do not have the theory to the Day Skipper level, they should take the theory training prior to the course.
